The Opening of the Khmer Art Exhibition in Moscow


On 2 November 2023 at 17:00 (Moscow time) at the Eastern State Museum, Moscow, His Excellency Ambassador of Cambodia PichKhun Panha, accompanied by his Spouse and all officials of the Embassy of Cambodia to the Federation of Russia, participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition under the theme "In the Shadow of the Angkor Temples. Art of Cambodia", co-organized by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the State Museum of Oriental Art of the Russian Federation. The purpose of this exhibition is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the 9th November Independence Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

"In the Shadow of the Angkor Temples. Art of Cambodia" is the first large-scale exhibition dedicated to Khmer art in the last 20 years in the Russian Federation. Through this exhibition, the State Museum of Oriental Art showcases the diversity of traditional Khmer arts and crafts that have been left behind for generations, with more than 150 artifacts related to the magnificent Angkor temples and rich cultural treasures. Cambodia's prosperity to the point of luxurious silk weaving, which showcases the skills and creativity of the vibrant and priceless heritage of the Cambodian people. All of this is a testament to the great skills of Cambodian artisans who have worked tirelessly to preserve the rich cultural heritage and invaluable value.

The exhibition not only showcases Cambodia's cultural arts but also a platform that promotes cultural exchange and raises awareness between the people of the two countries, Cambodia and Russia.
