The First ACMECS-Development Partners Senior Officials’ Meeting ( 21 November 2022 )


On 21 November 2022, H.E. Mr. SOK Soken, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Cambodia’s Alternate SOM Leader for Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), led the Cambodian delegation to attend the First ACMECS-Development Partners Senior Officials’ Meeting, which was organized by Thailand in Hybrid Format in Bangkok. This meeting was chaired by Lao PDR in his capacity as the current Chair of 10th ACMECS Summit, and attended by all ACMECS SOM Leaders (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam), and ACMECS Development Partners (DPs) including Australia, China, India, Japan, the ROK, the U.S., Israel, and New Zealand.

During the meeting, H.E. Mr. SOK Soken pointed out the importance of the complementary contributions of each development partner to the efforts of ACMECS member countries to promote more prosperous and sustainable development in the Mekong sub-region through the ACMECS framework, particularly the meeting adopted the Joint Development Plans between ACMECS and the First Batch of DPs (Australia, China, India, Japan, ROK, and the U.S.). Taking that opportunity, H.E. also expressed appreciation to all DPs that have engaged with and contributed to our Mekong cooperation frameworks, including Mekong River Commission, Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, Mekong-Japan Cooperation, Mekong-ROK Cooperation, Mekong-Ganga Cooperation, Mekong-U.S. Partnership, and Mekong-Australia Partnership.
