On 25 September 2024, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had a meeting with Her Excellency Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Myanmar. 

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed warm welcome on the appointment of Her Excellency Julie Bishop as the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Myanmar. The Deputy Prime Minister shared Cambodia’s experience in ending war and seeking national reconciliation. He also shared Cambodia’s position on Myanmar including supporting engagement with Myanmar and ASEAN’s mechanisms namely ASEAN special envoy, Troika, and expanded Troika.

The Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General expressed her sincere thanks to the Deputy Prime Minister for sharing experience as well as informing about Cambodia’s position and efforts to find solution to Myanmar’s crisis.
