In the afternoon of 26 April 2022, H.E. EAT Sophea, Secretary of State and ASEAN SOM Leader for Cambodia, chaired the 12th ASEAN Coordinating Council Working Group (ACCWG) on Timor-Leste’s application for ASEAN membership via videoconference to discuss the work progress, in particular the preparation for the fact finding missions of the ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community pillars, scheduled to be held in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2022. The meeting also exchanged views on other initiatives related  to the capacity building programme for Timor-Leste's government officials which is one of the ASEAN joint efforts to contribute and enhance Timor-Leste’ readiness for ASEAN membership.
