On the evening of Wednesday May 10, 2023, His Excellency Dr. Chhiv Yiseang, Secretary of State, member of the Economic and Social Council (CES) of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) and Vice-President of the Regional Commission for Economic and Scientific Experts (CREES) for the Asia-Pacific region, participated by videoconference in a meeting of the CES chaired by Prof. Slim KHALBOUS, Rector of the AUF. Eight other members of the CES also attended this virtual meeting, each representing one of the CREES in their region.
The exchanges of the meeting focused on the state of progress of the organization of the 3rd edition of the World Week of Scientific Francophonie (SMFS) which will take place from October 31 to November 02, 2023 in Quebec (Canada) with the involvement of the CES in this event. Subsequently, all the participants discussed the results of the implementation of the ENTREPRENDRE program over the past three years and examined the possible expansion of this program in all the regions with an establishment of the AUF. At the end of the discussions, it was agreed that the Economic and Social Council (CES) (1) will soon receive the project proposals to be examined and selected for the SMFS meeting, (2) will participate in the drafting of a concept note on the feasibility of setting up the ENTREPRENDRE program for participating companies.
During the presentation of the evolution of the CREES, the Secretary of State highlighted the conclusions of the last meeting of the CREES of Asia Pacific gathered on April 10, 2023 in Da Nang, Vietnam, which focused, among others , on the priority missions of the roadmap for the Asia-Pacific CREES, namely the conceptualization of projects, fundraising and mobilization of co-financing, the establishment of an evaluation process and measuring the impact of AUF projects, the involvement of CREES in the organization of the 14th General Assembly of the General Conference of Rectors of AUF member universities in Asia-Pacific (CONFRASIE) which will take place in Phnom Penh, on September 29, 2023, etc.
The meeting ended with the announcement that the next in person CES meeting will take place on September 27, 2023 in Paris.
