On 05 October 2023, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister SOK Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call and engaged in a productive discussion with Her Excellency Maria Amelita C. Aquino, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Ministry.
The discussion focused on economic diplomacy and further advancement of cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, agriculture, defence and people-to-people linkages, among others. The two sides also expressed willingness to boost tourism by exploring the possibility of connecting direct flights to other potential tourist destinations in Cambodia and the Philippines. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Philippines for importing Cambodian rice. Both sides emphasized the importance of working closely to convene the 4th Meeting of the Cambodia-Philippines Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation at the earliest convenience.
