On 06 November 2023, His Excellency AN Sokkhoeurn, Under-Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call by two distinguished members of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, Ms. Ann Skelton and Ms. Sopio  Kiladze, along with the UNICEF Representative Dr. Will Parks at the Ministry.

His Excellency AN Sokkhoeurn reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Cambodian government to the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and to collaborative endeavors with all stakeholders, including the Committee and the UNICEF, in order to advance the children’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation. He showcased concrete actions taken and significant progress achieved with regard to the recommendations rendered by the Committee, demonstrating Cambodia’s steadfast dedication to the CRC’s objectives. 

The Committee’s members and the UNICEF Representative praised the substantial efforts exerted by the Cambodian government and recognized its resolute commitment to the CRC’s implementation. The Committee and the UNICEF pledged its cooperation to Cambodia in its pursuit of CRC implementation and fulfillment of the Committee’s recommendations.

Both sides also exchanged views on various issues that have arisen during the implementation of the CRC and recommendations put forth by the Committee.
