Press Release on the Signing of Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions of Grant Aid for Projects on Human Resources Development between H.E. Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn and H.E. Horinouchi Hidehisa, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia


On 4 July 2017, at 09:30, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and His Excellency Horinouchi Hidehisa, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia, will sign the Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on the extension of Grant Aid up to the amount of JPY 649,000,000 (approximately USD 5.77 million) for the two following projects:

1.Grant Aid up to the amount of JPY 286,000,000 (approximately USD 2.5 million) for the Implementation of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (three-year cycle) for Academic Year 2017; and

2.Grant Aid up to the amount of JPY 363,000,000 (approximately USD 3.27 million) for the Implementation of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship for Academic Year 2018.

Started in 2000, hundreds of Cambodian students have benefited from this Project to pursue their higher education in undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of international relations, economics, development and legal and judicial development, among others. Until 2016, 275 Cambodian students have graduated from this program and worked in the public and private sectors in Cambodia.
