On the morning of 03 May 2019, at the National Education Institute, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn delivered a lecture on the 20th Anniversary of Cambodia’s membership to ASEAN (30 April 1999-30 April 2019). In this significant occasion, H.E. Dr. Hang Chou Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, National Representative of Cambodia for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community and H.E. Mr. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce and National Representative of Cambodia for ASEAN Economic Community, were also in attendance.\r\nIn his meaningful speech, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn explained, elaborated each point beginning from the establishment of ASEAN in 1967 through Cold War period and up to the day Cambodia become ASEAN membership in 1999 as well as benefit Cambodia receives from the participation in this integrated region.\r\nThis lecture attracted overwhelmed participation from students across Phnom Penh and the number of participation exceeded the expectation. This insightful lecture is the important document for students, government officials use to understand the history of ASEAN, purpose and benefit of joining ASEAN for its 10 Member States for the beneficial economic development, intra-regional trade, and maintenance of peace, stability and prosperity for the whole region.
