On 01 December 2019, His Excellency Cheuy Vichet, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Malaysia, accompanied by the Embassy’s officials, visited Cambodian citizens and workers living in Saungai Pulou district of Selangor state. According to the district governor, there are only about 1,000 Cambodians who have been living as refugees in the district for more than 30 years. Of these, about 5% are illegal-border-crossing workers; however their situations are well understood and compromised by the Malaysian authorities.
