In the morning of Thursday 24 August 2022, on behalf of His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Dr. CHEM Widhya, Secretary of State, received Her Excellency Tina Redshaw, Her Majesty’s Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Kingdom of Cambodia for a Courtesy Farewell Call at the completion of her ambassadorial posting in Cambodia.
His Excellency Dr. CHEM Widhya thanked the United Kingdom for the aid and assistance given to Cambodia, including assistance in demining, education, health, and in particular, the continued provision of full preferential tariffs to Cambodia, and welcomed the new UK trade policy on Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) which will contribute to the better economic and social development of Cambodia. The Royal Government of Cambodia welcomes the continuation of the Human Rights Dialogue and highly appreciates the decision of the Government of Her Majesty to appoint a Non-Resident Military Attaché and to accept a cadet from Cambodia to the Military Academy of Sandhurst. The opening of two new British schools which offer specific subjects on science, technology and engineering is also highly appreciated.
Her Excellency Tina Redshaw also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the facilitation of the work of the British Embassy and working closely together to strengthen and expand the bilateral relations between the two countries. She also expressed her deep satisfaction with the progress of bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and the United Kingdom, which has been clearly reflected in the exchange of visits by high-ranking dignitaries of the two countries.
Both sides expressed optimism that Cambodia-UK relations will continue to flourish for the mutual benefit of both nations.
