On 27 October 2023, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call by His Excellency Justin Whyatt, Ambassador of Australia to Cambodia, at the Ministry.

Both sides expressed deep satisfaction with the flourishing relations of the two countries. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister conveyed his appreciation to the Australian government for the invaluable support and assistance in various areas which have significantly contributed to Cambodia’s socio-economic development and enhanced friendly ties between Cambodia and Australia. 

During the discussion, the two sides recalled the productive meeting between Samdech Thipadei HUN Manet and Her Excellency Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two sides emphasized the significance of deepening potential spheres of cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, security and defence, and human resources development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitments to further strengthen the long-standing bonds of friendship and expand mutually beneficial cooperation of the two countries within bilateral and multilateral frameworks. The two sides also looked forward to the 4th Senior Officials’ Talks in Cambodia in 2024 to further enhance and broaden bilateral relations.
