At the closing ceremony of the 19th Francophonie Summit on October 5, 2024, in Paris, France, Cambodia was officially announced as the host country for the 20th Francophonie Summit, scheduled for 2026, in Phnom Penh.
In this context, His Excellency Mr. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, convened the first meeting of the National Committee on November 12, 2024. Held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, this meeting marks the official commencement of preparations for this landmark event.
The National Committee, supported by six Sub-Commissions, namely 1. Substance, 2. Protocol, 3. Communication, 4. Security, 5. Side events, and 6. Finance; as well as a Secretariat, is composed of key figures from Cambodia’s ministries, public institutions, and the private sector.
This inaugural meeting laid the foundation for the planning process, ensuring the success of the event and making the 20th Francophonie Summit a defining moment for the entire Francophone community.
