On the morning of May 9, 2025, H.E. Heng Sarith, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cambodia to ASEAN, accompanied by Mr. Un Samnang, Counsellor, Mr. Kao Visal, First Secretary, and representatives from the ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community of the Permanent Mission of Cambodia to ASEAN, co-chaired the 16th ASEAN-US Joint Cooperation Committee Meeting with the United States at the ASEAN Secretariat. The meeting reviewed progress on the ASEAN-US Action Plan (2021-2025) and discussed priorities to enhance the ASEAN-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and unlock its full potential.

During the meeting, H.E. Heng Sarith encouraged the U.S. to expand collaboration in key areas such as trade and investment, digital economy, artificial intelligence, combating online scams, cultural cooperation, including education and people-to-people ties, and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He also emphasized continued support for the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) and further cooperation on implementing the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI).
