Meeting between His Excellency Dr. CHEM Widya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Christian Berger, German Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, 4 November 2021


On November 4, 2021, at 10:00 AM, H.E. Dr. CHEM Widya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Mr. Christian Berger, German Ambassador to Cambodia at the Ministry.

His Excellency Secretary of State thanked the German government for its continued supports and assistances for the development of Cambodia, especially the support to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s program in response to the Covid-19 outbreak in Cambodia.

In response, the German Ambassador stated that besides being a partnership in the European Union, Germany attaches great importance to and derives its core interests from the partnership with ASEAN, including Cambodia. The German side stands ready to provide assistance to Cambodia during its rotating chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022. In addition, the Ambassador appreciated the recent introduction of the new Cambodian Investment Law, which aims to encourage, reassure, and further facilitate both domestic investment and foreign direct investment in Cambodia.
