On the afternoon of 09 February 2022, His Excellency Ambassador Cheuy Vichet received a courtesy meeting with H.E. Mrs. Joana Veneranda Amaral, Ambassador-Designate of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Malaysia. Both sides exchanged views on important developments in the region and the strengthening of bilateral ties through both missions in Kuala Lumpur.  H.E. Ambassador highlighted the roles of Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2022 and pointed out Cambodia’s priorities including the support of Timor-Leste’s admission into ASEAN.

Excellency Ambassador informed also other issues including, 1. Cambodia’s success of fighting against Covid-19 and the kingdom’s reopening of all sectors; 2. Experiences of ending civil war thanks to “Win Win Policy” of peace founder, Samdech Techo Hun Sen; Rebuilding and developing country where significant progress has been widely seen today etc. Her Excellency Joana echoed her support and pointed out that it’s very important for her country to send an official team to study Cambodia’s administration and development experiences.
