The Mekong-U.S. Partnership Senior Officials' Meeting ( 6 April 2023 )


On the morning of 6th April 2023, H.E. Sok Soken, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Cambodia’s Alternate SOM Leader for Mekong Cooperation, attended the Mekong-U.S. Partnership Senior Officials' Meeting which was co-chaired by the United States and Lao PDR and attended by the Mekong countries to discuss on MUSP Plan of Action (PoA) 2024-2026 and exchange views on ways to advance cooperation for Mekong-U.S. Partnership as well as to identify regional challenges and solutions on economic connectivity, food security, human resource development, and transnational crime. The meeting also adopted the Mekong-U.S. Partnership Co-Chair Concept Note for 2023 Policy Dialogue.

In the afternoon of the same day, he also attended the Friends of Mekong Senior Officials' Meeting which was chaired by the United States, attended by the Mekong countries and development partners to discuss on activities and priorities for the Mekong sub-region under the theme of “Charting Our Path to Improve Collaboration on Economic Recovery Efforts, Energy Resilience, and Natural Resource Management”. The United States and Japan, together with the Mekong countries, also announced the Japan-U.S.-Mekong Power Partnership (JUMPP) Action Plan.
