On 3rd August 2023, His Excellency Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call by Mr. Jason Chumtong, the new Country Director of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Cambodia, at the Ministry.

His Excellency Dr. Chem Widhya thanked KAS for its valuable assistance to Cambodia since 1994, focusing on youth, the rule of law governance and media, and more recently on environmental protection, digital economy and international relations.

He also briefed on the democratic nature of the political system in Cambodia as evidenced by its Constitution and regular communal and national elections, including the recent general elections on Sunday 23rd July 2023, which were held in a peaceful, transparent, free and fair manner and on the process of forming the new Royal Government.

Mr. Jason Chumtong briefed about the activities of KAS in Cambodia and expressed KAS’s commitment to working with the new government to further strengthen the relations between Cambodia and Germany.

Both sides agreed to work on lectures pertaining to artificial intelligence and digital economic diplomacy.
