At the reception commemorating the National Day of Japan on 14 February 2024, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, extended warmest congratulations to the Government and the people of Japan.
 
On the joyous occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the enduring friendship, excellent ties, and close cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks over the years. He highly appreciated Japan’s vital role in contributing to Cambodia’s peace and reconstruction processes in the early 1990s, as well as for its continuous assistance in supporting the Kingdom’s socio-economic development. The Deputy Prime Minister stated 2023 was indeed a very special year for both countries as Cambodia and Japan celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations and elevated the relationship to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.” He emphasized that our two leaders have acknowledge that Cambodia-Japan relations are at the best level ever.
