SoS Chum Sounry Discusses Cooperation with US CDA Andrew Herrup


His Excellency Chum Sounry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Mr. Andrew Herrup, Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) of the Embassy of the United States of America to Cambodia, discussed the productive cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and ASEAN frameworks, in a meeting held at the Ministry on 29 May 2024.

Secretary of State Chum Sounry spoke highly of the advances in various areas of cooperation, including high-level interactions, growing bilateral trade, the increasing presence of US companies in Cambodia, the excellent cooperation on culture and antiquities, the cooperation on POW/MIA where Cambodia has been considered the “best partner”, and the good cooperation on health, education, repatriation and tourism. He expressed his optimism for the continued development in the bilateral ties.   

The discussion also touched on cooperation in the ASEAN framework as Cambodia will assume the role of country coordinator for ASEAN-US Dialogue Relations for three years from 2024 to 2027, starting this coming July.
