Cambodia and Malaysia to further strengthen ties and broaden cooperation


On 25 June 2024, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call by His Excellency SHAHARUDDIN BIN ONN, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Cambodia, at the Ministry.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and His Excellency the Ambassador expressed their satisfaction with developed bilateral relations and cooperation in all sectors, particularly trade, investment, agriculture, Halal industry, ICT, and digital sectors. 

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister recalled the official visit of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, to Malaysia with a warm welcome extended to the Cambodian delegation and fruitful outcome in February 2024.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and His Excellency the Ambassador concurred on the importance of convening the Third Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (3rd JCBC) meeting to enhance bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia and explore other potential areas of the mutual interest at a mutually convenient time.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and His Excellency the Ambassador also discussed cooperation within ASEAN, the UN, and other international fora, where both nations have a history of mutual support and remain committed to continuing this tradition.
