On 24 September 2024, on the occasion of attending the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had a working breakfast with His Excellency Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and His Excellency Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, in New York.

This is the first trilateral meeting among the three foreign ministers following the decision to hold such meetings on the sidelines of multilateral meetings, in addition to the trilateral meetings at the head of Government level, which have already been held multiple times.
