On the afternoon of 24 February 2025, Her Excellency EAT Sophea, Acting Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call by Her Excellency Edirisinghe Arachchilage Sriyani Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Cambodia with Residence in Bangkok.

Her Excellency Acting Minister congratulated Her Excellency Edirisinghe Arachchilage Sriyani Wijayanthi Edirisinghe on her appointment as the new Ambassador to Cambodia and affirmed full support for the Sri Lankan Ambassador’s mission to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation between the two countries.

The exchange of views covered potential areas of cooperation, such as trade, investment, culture, and Buddhism tourism. Both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging high-level visits and convening bilateral consultations between the two foreign ministries, at an early date, to explore ways and means to further broaden mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides also expressed commitment to enhance cooperation in regional and international fora.
