An event to commemorate the historical ties between Fère-en-Tardenois and Cambodia

On 17 March 2025, His Excellency Mr. LUY David, Ambassador of Cambodia to France, took part in an event organized at the town hall of Fère-en-Tardenois to commemorate the historical ties between Fère-en-Tardenois and Cambodia and the International Francophonie Day on March 20. This meeting brought together several important personalities, including the Mayor of Fère-en-Tardenois, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, the Ambassador of Moldova and President of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in France, as well as the Prefect of Aisne.

It was here, in Fère-en-Tardenois, that the late His Majesty NORODOM Sihanouk and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN Sen, then Prime Minister, met for the first time in December 1987, laying the foundations for the peace process that would lead to the 1991 Paris Accords.

H.E. Mr. Ambassador paid tribute to the spirit of dialogue and reconciliation that paved the way for peace in Cambodia, and expressed his deep gratitude to the authorities and people of Fère-en-Tardenois for their role in this essential page of Cambodian history.
