On the afternoon of 21 May 2025, His Excellency CHUM Sounry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Ms Bridgette L. Walker, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, at the Ministry.

The discussion focused on some aspects of the relationship between the two countries. Secretary of State Sounry reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s sincere desire to strengthen cooperation in all areas and to work closely with the U.S. Administration on issues related to bilateral trade and the repatriation of Cambodian nationals subject to final orders of removal.

They appreciated the significant progress made in 2024, especially in defense relations, and expressed confidence that the relationship will be further strengthened.
