On 14 July 2025, His Excellency CHUM Sounry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Mario Jose Armengol Campos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua with residence in Hanoi, at the Ministry. His Excellency Sounry expressed his congratulations to the Ambassador following the presentation of his letter of credence to His Majesty the King of Cambodia earlier that day.

Both sides valued the cordial longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation and affirmed their commitment to further deepening these ties for the development and prosperity of both nations.

His Excellency the Secretary of State underscored the good tradition of mutual support between Cambodia and Nicaragua in the international arena and expressed hope that Nicaragua would continue to support Cambodia's candidature to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2028-2030 term.
