On 14 July 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Sun Sovanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and National Correspondent of Cambodia to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), met with His Excellency LIM Hyong-tae, Director-General for European Affairs, and His Excellency LEE Dong-gy, Director-General for ASEAN and Southeast Asian Affairs.

The meeting focused on Francophonie-related activities in the Asia-Pacific region and invited the Republic of Korea, an observer member of the OIF, to initiate preparations for the Francophonie Summit and its accompanying events in 2026.

On the same day, His Excellency Sun Sovanna also had a meeting with the Council for the Promotion of La Francophonie in Korea, chaired by His Excellency Jacques Flies, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the Republic of Korea, along with members of the Francophone diplomatic corps. The discussions centered on the situation of French speakers in the country and ways to further strengthen Francophonie activities in the Republic of Korea.
