Cambodian Foreign Minister briefs Diplomatic Corps and United Nations Agencies on the latest developments of Cambodian-Thai border conflict


On the afternoon of 21 August 2025, at the Ministry, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation, chaired a briefing on the latest developments of Cambodian-Thai border conflict for 42 members of the diplomatic corps and 22 United Nations Agencies accredited to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

 

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister underlined Cambodia’s firm commitment to upholding the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, reached on 28 July 2025 in Putrajaya. He also briefed the meeting on the outcomes of Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) between Cambodia and Thailand, held on 7 August 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

At the same time, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister apprised the meeting of the landmine situation in Cambodia, especially along Cambodian-Thai border, while reiterating Cambodia’s strong adherence to the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines (Ottawa Convention). He also roughly touched on the upcoming field visit to Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey provinces, scheduled on 22–23 August 2025.
