On the morning of 21 August 2025, Her Excellency EAT Sophea, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a joint courtesy call from His Excellency Paolo Dionisi, Ambassador of Italy, and His Excellency Peter B. Wells, Ambassador of the Holy See accredited to Cambodia, with residence in Bangkok, at the Ministry.

During the meeting, Her Excellency the Permanent Secretary of State commended the Ambassadors for their efforts in promoting and strengthening the ties, friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Italy and between Cambodia and the Holy See. She expressed deep gratitude to Italy and the Holy See for encouraging stronger efforts to hold the ceasefire and work towards cessation of armed hostilities and peaceful solutions to the border issues based on international law.
