His Excellency CHUM Sounry attends the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation


As the high representative of His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, His Excellency CHUM Sounry, Secretary of State led a delegation to attend the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC FMM) held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from 20—22 August, 2025.

 

Before the Ministerial Session, at the 24th Senior Officials’ Meeting on 21 August, His Excellency CHUM Sounry delivered his intervention on the New FEALAC Action Plan, reaffirming Cambodia’s strong support for the Forum’s future direction. He stressed that “the Plan must remain inclusive, practical, and responsive to the priorities of all members, particularly developing countries.”

 

At the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 22 August, His Excellency CHUM Sounry, in his capacity as representative of H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, delivered two statements. Under Agenda Item 3: “Road to Ulaanbaatar: Reflection on the 25th Anniversary of FEALAC,” he highlighted FEALAC’s achievements over the past 25 years and called for renewed political will to elevate its global role. Under Agenda Item 4: “25 Years and Beyond: Vision for East Asia and Latin America,” he outlined Cambodia’s priorities: strengthening trade, investment and tourism, promoting sustainable and inclusive growth, and enhancing FEALAC’s visibility, including through a future Summit and closer engagement with the United Nations. He stressed that “the future strength of FEALAC depends on vision, structure, commitment, and concrete action.”

 

On the sidelines of the FMM, His Excellency Sounry paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Co-chair of the 10th FEALAC FMM, and held talks with Heads of Delegation of Colombia and Chile.

 

It is noted that FEALAC comprises 36 member states: 16 from East Asia, including all ASEAN countries, and 20 from Latin America and Caribbean nations.
