On 26 August 2025, His Excellency Mr. Sun Sovanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Cambodia’s National Correspondent to the International Organization of la Francophonie (OIF), held a working meeting with His Excellency Mr. Dang Hoang Giang, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, in charge of International Organizations, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi. The discussion focused on the progress of preparations for the 20th Francophonie Summit, to be held in Cambodia, and on the sharing of Viet Nam’s experience as host country of the 1997 Summit. On this occasion, Cambodia invited the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to actively participate in the Summit as well as in the side events scheduled for 2026.

On 25 August 2025, His Excellency the Secretary of State met with Mr. Nicolas Mainetti, Regional Director of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) for Asia and the Pacific, at the AUF headquarters in Hanoi. He expressed his appreciation for the AUF’s continued support, in particular for the training of 300 liaison officers for the 20th Summit, as well as for the development of cooperation projects in Cambodia within the regional framework.

Later that day, His Excellency Mr. Sun Sovanna also held a working meeting with Mr. Edgar Doerig, Regional Representative of the OIF for Asia-Pacific (REPAP), at the REPAP headquarters. Discussions focused on the progress of preparations for the Summit, the strengthening of cooperation between the OIF and Cambodian public-private institutions, as well as the designation of the next country to assume the presidency of the Network of Structures and Institutions in charge of La Francophonie in Asia-Pacific (RESIFAP).
